In the aerospace industry, every gram of material is precious – and every dispensing process is relevant to safety. Structural bonding on CFRP components, edge sealing, antenna encapsulation or seals on pressure vessels: all of these applications require absolute reproducibility, seamless, AS9100-compliant documentation and material utilization at the highest level. Dispensing systems from dosmatix achieve a material efficiency of up to 99.6% – a decisive factor for expensive aerospace potting compounds whose costs can reach four-digit amounts per kilogram.
Aerospace components are subject to extreme load cycles: pressure differences, temperature fluctuations from -60 °C to +200 °C, high-frequency vibrations and UV radiation. Adhesives and potting compounds are often structural, load-bearing elements here, not just auxiliary materials. At the same time, the materials are extremely expensive, the processes are tightly regulated (AS9100, DO-160 potting of electronics) and every reject causes considerable costs. Dispensing technology must therefore be precise, low-waste and fully documented.
structural bonding
Precise bead or dot application of impact-resistant 2K epoxies or MMA for bonding CFRP and aluminum components.
sealing
Application of FIPG seals on plugs, flanges and cable glands with high-temperature-resistant silicones.
potting & encapsulation
Bubble-free vacuum potting for antennas, radomes, avionics and on-board electronics with dielectric 2K silicones or epoxies. dos piston + dos prep (up to 5 mbar) reliably eliminate cavities. Optional scanner workflow and MES connection create continuous process documentation that can be integrated into the operator’s quality processes.
edge sealing
Sealing of cut edges on fiber composite components with 1K or 2K epoxies to prevent the penetration of moisture.
Modern vehicles contain hundreds of electronic control units, sensor clusters and power modules. Each of these must be reliably protected against vibration, temperature changes, moisture and chemical influences. Potting and bonding applications are not a peripheral process, but a core process for quality: they determine the service life, the protection class (IP protection) and the functional safety of the components in the vehicle.
With the transition to electromobility, the requirements continue to increase: Thermal Interface Materials (TIM) for power electronics, large-area cell connectors and abrasive heat-conducting pastes require specialized and process-reliable dosing solutions.
dos piston
Piston dispenser, 2K
Ideal for 2K structural bonding and encapsulation with maximum volume precision. In combination with a vacuum chamber, it enables bubble-free potting of sensitive avionics – crucial for the quality of safety-critical assemblies.
dos screw
Progressive cavity dispenser, 1K/2K
Perfect for high-viscosity aerospace sealants and lubricant applications. The pulsation-free application protects shear-sensitive materials and prevents damage to expensive fillers.
dos control
Control
Enables AS9100-compliant process documentation. Every relevant parameter of the dispensing process is recorded and is fully traceable for quality audits.
frequently asked questions and answers
A: The high material yield is primarily due to the conveying architecture of the dos feed H: The hobbock conveying system pushes the material almost completely out of the container – material losses due to residual quantities are thus reduced to a minimum. This is particularly relevant for expensive aerospace materials.
A: The process documentation is created at system level: all relevant process data is recorded and archived in a traceable manner via an optional scanner workflow and MES connection. This database can be integrated into the operator’s AS9100-compliant quality processes – conformity lies with the operator, not with the system itself.
A: Yes. Two dispensing principles are available for highly viscous and pasty materials: The dos screw (progressive cavity dispenser) processes 1K and 2K materials up to 500,000 mPa-s – pulsation-free and gentle, even with shear-sensitive compounds. The dos piston (piston dispenser) is suitable for highly viscous 2K materials with precise volume dispensing – ideal when maximum repeat accuracy is required. Which principle is best suited depends on the material, the application and the quantity requirements.
